Neural Frontiers: Modern Machine Learning in Computer Graphics on a Neural Modeling Example

Abstract:

This presentation aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the evolving landscape of computer graphics research, with a specific focus on the intersection of graphics, vision, and machine learning. The first part of the talk will introduce the multidisciplinary nature of computer graphics, drawing insights from the work of the Computer Graphics Group at IDEAS NCBR. This group is committed to advancing both fundamental and applied aspects of 3D rendering, geometric modeling, and physical simulation, all in conjunction with artificial intelligence development. The second part of the presentation will delve into our recent research findings in the area of "neural modeling" presented at SIGGRAPH Asia. We will discuss a novel method for indoor layout synthesis that combines expert knowledge, such as ergonomics, with a data-driven generator based on the Transformer architecture. This approach addresses the limitations of existing datasets and offers new tools for designers and amateurs in the field of interior layout design.
